Strawberry Hot Wings

An interesting attempt that worked out really well. My sister is a huge fan of Glory Days and their hot bbq wings. So when we finally got our package from Costco, the first thing we decided to make was these hot wings. We didn’t have any bbq sauce at home so I had to improvise with what was in the pantry. I didn’t use anything unordinary, so this recipe is actually pretty easy to put together.

Strawberry Sauce: I am a huge fan of sweet and spicy. I found some strawberry jam and added some spices to this to create the wing sauce.

  1. In a  sauce pan I heated about 1 1/2 cups of strawberry jam.
  2. 1 tablespoon of chili powder(and this can vary based on spice levels)
  3. 1/4 tablespoon of garlic powder
  4. 1/4 tablespoon of red chili flakes
  5. 2 tablespoons of water
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Then to balance out the flavors I added the juice of 1/2 of an orange
  8. Let this simmer for a little bit longer until it became a thick consistency

Chicken Wings:

  1. First I washed the chicken and patted them dry with a paper towel
  2. Heat your oil and make sure that when adding the chicken to the oil your oil stays the same temperature through out
  3. Then in a baking pan:
    • 1 cup of oat flour (grind up rolled oats)
    • 1/2 tablespoon of garlic powder
    • 1/2 tablespoons of chili powder
    • salt for taste
  4. In a separate bowl beat 1 egg and add about 1/4 cup of yogurt. (Milk and buttermilk also work the same). Stir this
  5. Dip the chicken wings into the flour, then tap to get rid of the access flour
  6. Then dip into the egg mixture
  7. Dip the chicken back into the flour and shake off any access
  8. Then add it to the fryer

*If you feel your chicken cooked too quickly on the outside and not on the inside, throw it into the oven for a few minutes until you think it is ready.

Once the chicken is done, brush the sauce on top of the crispy chicken and  enjoy 🙂
